On 23 October 2017, Quantum Global Group’s Head of Research, Prof. Mthuli Ncube participated at the Institute Fund Summit Europe in Amsterdam.
The event was hosted by the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute (SWFI) who offer sovereign wealth funds (SWF), pensions, endowments, superannuation funds, family offices, central banks and other assets owners a platform for education, information and dialogue as well as an industrious networking environment for stakeholders.
Prof. Mthuli Ncube featured in a Q & A session which was moderated by Master of Ceremonies and SWF expert Rachel Pether and focused on the role of African SWF’s in the continent’s economic development.
In parallel to the event Prof. Mthuli Ncube, Head of Research and Dr. Seedwell Hove, Senior Macroeconomist released a co-authored report on SWFs which focused on their growing importance as a source of development finance in Africa. According to the report, assets under management deriving from SWF’s in Africa are over US$159 billion (6.4 percent of Africa’s GDP) and contribute towards bridging the infrastructure funding gap, supporting industrial development and economic diversification, reducing macroeconomic volatility and enhancing intergenerational equity.
